New Pornographer Kathryn Calder is going solo again, and in just a few weeks will release her self-titled solo album. We don’t think you should have to wait ’til April 14th to hear a new song, though, so we’re premiering one of its tracks today.
The 7th track off Kathryn Calder, “Song in Cm” is brooding, but not distant. Carried by streaking, textured synths and guitar-work, Calder sings softly on it that “if we fall, then we fall.”
Like the album itself, the song is a reflection on life. After scrapping an entire album’s worth of songs during the writing process, Calder stopped to a realization. As a press release explains, she ruminated: “How am I going to approach my life seeing as how it’s so short?”
If “Song in Cm” is any indication, the answer is surprisingly clear: One step at a time.
Kathryn Calder is out April 14th through File Under: Music. If this song is any indication, fans are in for something special.
