Due to high taxes, he's been forced to sell his prizes.

Seeing Killswitch Engage’s Adam D. on the Price is Right was a great moment for metalheads. “I know who that is!” we can imagine them telling their grandmothers. But because you’re only allowed to be happy about something for, like, 10 seconds, the truth behind his epic appearance on the show makes for a much sadder reality.

So, you know how he won two cars, a trailer and a vacation? He can’t afford to keep them. He’s going to have to sell them.

He was on Jamey Jasta’s podcast this week and revealed that the 30 per cent tax U.S. lottery law calls for is too much for him. Now, these numbers are estimates, but figure it like this: He won more than $50,000 in prizes. 30 per cent of that? That’s $15,000. And maybe our estimate is a little high, but the fact remains — dude’s a working musician. He can’t afford that.

That said, he’s still stoked on the appearance itself. He told Jasta that he “blacked out with excitement” when his name was called.

“I was like shaking with excitement, it was so cool.”

“It was the craziest day of my life — you have no idea man—this is like insanity,” he explained. “Number one: it’s been like my favorite show like my entire life.” [h/t Loudwire]
