Check out our “Trending” playlist for this week. Put on the player and read a bit about each song below.

1. “The Scene Between” by The Go! Team

Seeing the Go! Team on the blogs this week was really unexpected, but the group is back with news of an album coming out March 24th on Mephis Industries. This record has bandleader Ian Parton writing, performing, and producing all of the songs himself, as members of The Go! Team were busy with their own projects. Kind of like how it was in the earliest days of the band.

2. “Enough (feat. M Maggie)” by Black Coast

Black Coast is a new solo project of New York based producer Stan Rapoport, who’s been collaborating with NYC poet and songwriter M Maggie. I first saw their name back in October of last year with the debut single “TRNDSTTR ft M. Maggie,” which reached no. 3 on Hype Machine charts. “Enough” comes through as a great follow-up, for fans of Fickle Friends and Tegan and Sara.

3. “Thinking Of U” by Summer Heart

As I write about Summer Heart‘s latest track, I’m instantly transported from my chilly desk, where I’m wearing a winter coat, to a summer afternoon bike ride with nowhere to be and nothing to do. If you’re a fan of bands like Air France or Korallreven, I’d recommend you check out “Thinking Of U.”

4. “Catch Me If I Fall” by LYON

Toronto artist Lyon is back with her second offering of new music in as many months, this week revealing a video for her latest track “Catch Me If I Fall.” This track is for those who like pop; it’s a bouncy, care-free vocal performance over synth-driven full-band production.

5. “Young” by Vallis Alps

The track currently sitting at the top spot on the Hype Machine? “Young” by Australian duo Vallis Alps. Minimal electronic pop for fans of The xx, London Grammar, and BROODS.

6. “White Light” by Waterstrider

I’ve been listening to this track all week, trying to get into it and figure out whether I was a fan of Oakland band Waterstrider. Turns out, it just needed some time to sink in. Or maybe once you hear that amazing guitar at 1:14 a few times, you’ll get hooked like me.

7. “Animal Fear” by Marika Hackman

London songwriter Marika Hackman has announced her new single, “Animal Fear,” from her upcoming debut album “We Slept At Last.” This song has her building from the folk parameters that we’ve known from her two EPs.

8. “Paper Suns” by ICELANDIA

Time for a little more sunshine in this week’s playlist. Put BC synth-pop artist Anthony David Martens (aka ICELANDIA) on your radar and fall for “Paper Suns,” for its shimmering vocals and catchy synth line.

9. “The Rain” by Oh Wonder

At the end of 2014 and into the beginning of this year, it was pretty slow on the blogs for new and good content. Really, it’s not the best time to release new music, unless you’re the only one doing it. That’s probably why I saw Oh Wonder on just about every blog. Check out this duo’s latest tune “The Rain.”
