Harrison shows off a quieter side of Toronto nightlife in "You're Light"

The Toronto producer debates whether to stay in or go out in his new video.
Back in June, we named Harrison—a fresh-faced Torontonian producer with a near-flawless Soundcloud page—a Canadian act that needed to be signed right now. And why not? Track by track, Harrison’s music was both infectious and forward-looking: He’s felt equally adept dabbling in hip-hop, chill-out electro, or funk-laced future R&B. Apparently, the Canadian music biz was listening: By year’s end, Harrison was scooped up by Last Gang, who are gearing up to release his debut EP, Colours, in North America (with producer/DJ Star Slinger’s Jet Jam imprint handling the European release). Naturally, we’re delighted.
Today, we’re even happier to see Harrison’s brand new Charlie Tyrell-directed video for “You’re Light,” the first single from Colours, showcasing the producer’s penchant for seamless arrangements. The Scion Sessions-partnered video offers us a rare window into his world: Taking a tour of his hometown, the vid juxtaposes sweeping shots of the Toronto skyline with Harrison in his bedroom, armed only with a Macbook and an MPC. That, and a pool party. (We’re team #STAYHOMECLUB, for the record.)
Check out some of Harrison’s previous sounds on Scion Sessions’ Field Trip Discovery mix and 7-inch.
Check the video above—and if you’re in Montreal for New Year’s, catch him on a star-studded bill with Jon Hopkins, Purity Ring, and Com Truise.
