Internet, let’s make the Prozzäk reunion a reality.

Unless you’re a Canadian music fan of a certain vintage—think: those who came up in the late ’90s to the mid-’00s—Prozzäk makes absolutely no sense. Indeed, the project is as weird as it was popular—it was based around Simon and Milo, two musical cartoon characters. They were supposed to spoof a Night at the Roxbury-era Euro-dance trashbags, but were voiced by two sarcastic musicians from Thornhill, a Toronto suburb. And the men behind the project—Jay Levine and Jason McCollum—split their time between Prozzäk and the Philosopher Kings, a soft-pop act whose name was a motherfucking Plato reference.

But here’s the most confusing part about it all: Prozzäk were wildly popular, and they released four albums, earned hit singles in tracks like “Sucks to Be You” and “www.nevergetoveryou,” wrote music for a Lindsay Lohan movie, opened for Destiny’s Child (!!!) and had a TV show pilot with Disney. And now, according to an interview with Noisey, Canada’s weirdest cartoon duo may reunite.

Prozzäk—who, according to the interview, impressively had their multi-platinum Hot Show album peak at no. 15 on the Billboard charts—last released music in 2005 with Cruel, Cruel World. A decade on, Levine says he’s open to reviving the project.

“I think one of the reasons I created a cartoon character was out of shyness about performing. I always considered myself more of a writer and producer and especially artist developer,” Levine told Noisey.

“When the animated show we created started opening for Destiny’s Child and we were watching it from the audience I started to wonder if I wasn’t at least missing out on a life experience by not doing it myself on stage. Then we set out to put together an awesome show and toured arenas. We still haven’t been paid for that tour now that I think of it.”

“Maybe it’s time for James to dust off that left fist and go get our money.”

But that was only a subtle hint. Later, Levine suggested that he’d love to work with McCollum again. When asked if the duo had been working together, here’s what he said.

We really haven’t and that’s sad. I’m sure we will. He’s one of the best writers and tastemakers in the world.

Then, when asked point-blank if he’d consider a reunion, he responded with a “100 per cent.”
