As Mayor Elect John Tory’s team transitions into Toronto city hall, things have been quiet. Eerily quiet. But that’s all about to change thanks to Brendan Croskerry, a Halifax-bred singer-songwriter who once served as Ford’s special assistant. According to his Wikipedia page, Croskerry worked on Ford’s team specializing in communications, but left the position to focus on music.

Still, his stint at city hall was fruitful: Croskerry—who also worked as a musical consultant for Ossington Creative, the firm responsible for Ford’s PR—is releasing an EP about his experiences at city hall, and he’s enlisted Broken Social Scene member Dave Newfeld to produce it. Newfeld, for his part, produced landmark records like You Forgot it in People.

The EP will be called Live From City Hall, and he’s released a preview for the R&B-inflected EP with some truly strange footage: Between snippets of Croskerry’s singing, the teaser shows video of Rob Ford right after he was stripped of his powers. Oddly, he’s being serenaded by a boy.

Watch the video below.

Croskerry, of course, writes plenty of non-city-hall-related songs. (According to the National Post, for example, he has a song called “Me and Miss Rand,” which we hope isn’t about Ayn.) But the Live From City Hall EP focuses solely on his Fordian experiences, and features tracks called “Live From City Hall,” “Megacity,” and “Ghetto Gold.” The, ahem, ghetto gold must surely be referencing a Steak Queen kaiser sandwich.

Listen to the EP below.
