Josh Homme would rather drive his car off a cliff than listen to One Direction

For true-blue rockists, Josh Homme’s stoner-inflected Queens of the Stone Age are—along with Foo Fighters—one of the genre’s good guys. But he’s always been a colourful quote: He tore apart the Grammys and, in the process, Imagine Dragons. He told a fan to, uh, bugger off, before violently removing him from the stage. And the next group in Homme’s target? One Direction.

Speaking to MTV U.K.—watch the interview if you have a proxy—Homme was asked by Relentless Ultra Presents Soundchain‘s Zane Lowe about the contentious boy band.

Homme, remember, is the father of two young children. He’s not blasting Kyuss in front of his kids—even if, perhaps, he should—and, in fact, said that he’s not picky about what his children like. “I refuse to be a musical snob at this point with my kids, you know what I mean, if they wanna listen to One Direction, go for it, man.”

Lowe, being from the U.K., chose to press him on the topic. Namely, he asked what Homme thought of One Direction. “Yeah, I mean, that’s not necessarily my direction. I try to shy it away to a different direction because I have to drive the car too. And like, do you want it to go over a cliff or do you want it to go to school? You decide—you’re eight!”

We’re not eight, but the decision’s pretty clear to us.
