Another week, another mix to send your way.

As part of my new weekly column on Aux.tv, I take a look at key songs charting on one of my favourite music destinations, the Hype Machine.  An aggregation of RSS feeds from over 800 international music blogs, the Hype Machine is a great tool to find out what songs music bloggers are loving at any one moment.  Catch up on what happened this week and pass it long.  Here’s Aux.tv’s trending playlist for the week of July 18 and read our assessment after the jump.

1. “Love Lockdown (Kanye West Cover)” by Glass Animals

I love a good cover, especially if it turns the original on its head. Rising UK four-piece Glass Animals are buzzing right now via their recently released debut album ZABA, an 11-track beauty produced by frontman Dave Bayley. Earlier this year, they performed this cover of “Love Lockdown” by Kanye West for Triple J Radio. Now we’ve got an official version online.

2. “Busy Earnin'” by JUNGLE

57 blogs can’t be wrong, can they? “Busy Earnin'” by UK collective Jungle has some serious staying power, as it was 5 months ago when we first heard their breakout track, and it is still gaining momentum online. For a song that continually sings “Can’t Get Enough,” I’d have to say that’s exactly how I feel about it.

3. “Can’t Do Without You (Extended Mix)” by Caribou

Proving that is pays to give the fans what they want, electronic artist Dan Snaith (aka Caribou) has his followers excited after deciding to put up the extended mix of “Can’t Do Without You,” to compliment the radio edit he led with a month ago.

4. “The Life Feat. Penguin Prison” by Viceroy

Viceroy‘s Soundcloud tagline reads “Summertime, All The Time.” You’ll feel it when listening to his latest, “The Life,” featuring vocals from Penguin Prison.

5. “Love Alight” by Crystal Fighters

Eclectic London-based band Crystal Fighters have released “Love Alight,” one of their first releases since 2013’s wildly successful Cave Rave. Featuring the bands’ signature Spanish-inspired musical style, this track will no doubt drive their crowds crazy on their upcoming festival tour dates.

6. “Strange Enough” by VÉRITÉ

In any week when I’m making these playlists, there’s always a newcomer who shows up out of nowhere with an incredible voice, in an incredible song. That newcomer is NYC songstress VÉRITÉ and her song “Strange Enough,” featuring towering choruses and dazzling vocals. Keep an eye on her.

7. “All This Could Be Yours” by Cold War Kids

I don’t know how some bands find all the time to keep churning out new music. Last month, we heard new music from a Cold War Kids side project called French Style Furs. This week, Cold War Kids have announced a new album, their fifth full-length, to be released in October on Downtown/Sony Red. Check out “All This Could Be Yours”.

8. “Hunger Of The Pine” by Alt-J

The great thing about these Minilogs playlists is that I can combine song embeds from Soundcloud and Bandcamp with video embeds from Youtube and Vimeo. In the case of “Hunger of the Pine,” a new track from alt-J, I’d rather you see how perfect the song fits to this striking video of a man trying to outrun an army of archers.

9. “Memories That You Call (Feat. Monsoonsiren)” by ODESZA

A nice song to song to end with, here’s a chill track from Seattle producer duo ODESZA (Harrison Mills, Clayton Knight) and their collaboration with Monsoonsiren, off the upcoming release of In Return, out in September on Counter Records.
