Because FIFA is, more than anything, an entirely corrupt officiating body, there have been no short of conspiracies throughout this year’s massively consumed World Cup tournament. Chief among them, that it’s Mick Jagger’s fault Italy suffered an unexpected, early exit from the bracket.

Those new to the game—read: North Americans—might not know it, but Mick Jagger’s bad luck towards the sport has been long documented. Four years ago, in South Africa, Jagger showed up to support the United States, England and Brazil. Each team lost.

In May, Jagger told the a crowd in Lisbon, Portugal, that pretty boy Christiano Ronaldo would lead their team to World Cup victory. As of now, they’re facing early elimination dead on; Germany needs to beat the United States and Portugal need to wallop Ghana to make advancing possible.

Last Saturday, with the Rolling Stones performing in Rome, Jagger told 70,000 fans that Italy would beat Uruguay to cement their place in the next round. They lost 1-0, with noted biter Luis Suarez’s chomp on Giorgio Chiellini putting the nail in the proverbial coffin.

Call it coincidence or call it bad juju, but Brazilians are worried now that Jagger will jump ship to support the Green and Yellow Canarinho. [H/T Guardian]
