The world has wasted 16,000 years watching 'Gangnam Style'

Psy’s rise to fame was fucking meteoric. In the summer of 2012, he was use a hilarious South Korean singer with a goofy ass video. 18 months later, “Gangnam Style” has officially crossed the 2 billion views mark on YouTube. Yes, that’s a record, and the math behind it is staggering.
The Economist breaks it down for us:
2 billion views of the 4:12 long video fills out to more than 140 million hours, which totals more than 16,000 years. To put that into context, they’ve graphed it, and… yikes. 140 million-man hours is enough time to build almost 20 Empire State Buildings. It’s enough time to write, and revise, every article on Wikipedia one and a half times. With that time, we, as a society, could build at least four great pyramids, five Stonehenges and six Burj Khalifas.
Basically, we’re wasting our lives. But you know what? Whatever. Get off our backs, Economist.
