While they share a name with a ’90s indie-pop / twee band, don’t get confused: Carouselis anelectro-pop duo based in Brooklyn. Consisting ofBerklee College Of Music graduates Kevin Friedman and Jackson Phillips, they haveconsistently landed on taste-making blogs and the “most popular” page on the Hype Machine since their debut track went online.
Recently, the band spent a few months supporting Cherub on their Blow’d Tour, gaining press from the likes of Jay-Z’s Life + Times and Billboard, ramping up into a busy summer. We expect a lot more music in the near future, but today we start with the dreamy “My New Friend.”
“This is a special song for us. We spent the last few months on the road supporting Cherub, and we didn’t get a chance to do much writing or producing,” the band says in a statement. “So this was the first song we wrote when we got home from tour. We wanted to make something that felt like a hazy summer night. Something to get us ready for these next few months.”
Take a listen to “My New Friend”.
