If it’s been a while since you’ve passed a great song to a friend, I’ve got the one for you.

“Emanate” comes from Brighton, England five-piece Phoria, who many overseas are already declaring a band to watch in 2014. The song starts withminimalistic soundscapes and soothing falsetto vocals, aloop of finger snaps, and echoed claps, all tied together with a heavy bass line. Channeling a vibe in the vein of Radiohead-meets-James Blake, the song slowly builds and eventually hits its high point with an explosion of throbbing synths, echoed chorus vocal lines, and crashing cymbals.

It caught me totally off guard, but I love that about music.

The band consist of Trewin Howard (vocals, guitar), Jeb Hardwick (guitar), Ed Sanderson (keyboard, vocals), Tim Douglas (bass, synth), and Seryn Burden (drums), who had great success last year releasing theEPBloodworks, with the hit single “Red.”

I think they’re on the right track with “Emanate,” which appears on the DisplayEP out in June throughX Novo.Check it out below.
