I love looking for new music, especially when you find gems like this one. I actually didn’t find “Freedom” by NYC duo Inky Jack on my own, though—I was put on to them by a new online friend and fellow blogger from the UK. A couple of beats in, I thought the song was a “Royals” edit or remix, the type that’s common online. But as the song grew, it unveiled an infectious beat and the impressive vocals of Kwame Butler. I was hooked.

Call it Ratatat meets TV on the Radio: the Brooklyn duo of Butler and Dipesh Sinha take cues from rock, reggae, electronica and punk, creating a sound that’s intoxicating and unique. The band released their debut EP last year, and now are working on the forthcoming Infared EP.

As we speak, this track is just starting to bubble online. Watch this one blow up.
