When RZA says Wu-Tang is about to sell an album like nobody else before them, he means it. In talking to Forbes, the cerebral hip-hop legend isn’t referring to the band’s long anticipated anniversary album, A Better Tomorrow, but another, surprise release that comes with a special caveat: they’re only putting out one copy. Eventually.

Once Upon A Time In Shaolin is two hours and 31 songs long, and you’ll have to wait until it comes to you to hear it. In an attempt to reinstall music’s artistic merit, RZA says the album will be displayed in art galleries and exhibitions. Fans will have to pay to listen to it, anywhere from $30 – $50, and when it eventually does go up for sale, the Clan expect it to sell “in the millions.”

“One leak of this thing nullifies the entire concept,” said Cilvaringz, the album’s producer. He’s not a household name, but fell in with Wu-Tang after jumping on stage with them in 1997. A few years later, in 2000, he started work on what would eventually become Once Upon A Time in Shaolin.

“The idea that music is art has been something we advocated for years,” said RZA.  “And yet its doesn’t receive the same treatment as art in the sense of the value of what it is, especially nowadays when it’s been devalued and diminished to almost the point that it has to be given away for free.”

Whoever is lucky enough to buy the album is getting more than the standard package; Aside from its intricate packaging, seen above, Once Upon A Time In Shaolin is an experience. Whoever buys it will ultimately dictate its exclusivity. The listening parties will apparently be exclusively through headphones—for the first time in 20 years, Wu-Tang Clan are ignoring community.

A Better Tomorrow is out this summer. As for Once Upon A Time, we can’t be sure. But keep your ears to the ground: If you’re a Wu-fan, you’d probably hate to miss this. Especially if you’re this dude:
