When Pharrell showed up to January’s Grammy Awards, we couldn’t help but notice his ludicrously oversized hat. It quickly stole the show, inspiring its own Twitter account and even drawing the attention of fast-food chain Arby’s, who jokingly tweeted about the mountie-inspired hat’s resemblance to their logo.
Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back? #GRAMMYs

Today, word got out that they’ve taken the joke one step further—for charity. Pharrell showed up to last night’s Oscars wearing a similar, but different coloured, oversized Vivienne Westwood hat. Why? Because he’d just finished auctioning off the original on eBay. And when he tweeted out a thank you to the mysterious $44,000 bidder, Arby’s was quick to own up—the revered beef sammy peddler bought the chapeau.
The money will go to benefit From One Hand To AnOTHER, Pharrell’s not for profit foundation established to help underprivileged youth reach their potential. Pharrell, for his part, tweeted thanks.
.@Pharrell You’re welcome. We’re HAPPY to support a great cause & get our hat back. Good luck at the #Oscars tonight! pic.twitter.com/2oA7qDPX9z

If you’re hungry, the winning $44,100 bid translates to roughly 14,749 Roast Beef Classic sandwiches (without sides). Or, if you’re looking to carbo-load, it’ll get you 23,280 orders of medium-sized curly fries. Or, if you’re really hungry, it’ll get you 7,420 combos. Aaaand now we’re hungry.
