The Chic member, star producer, and Daft Punk collaborator remains unrecognizable.

Human hit factory Nile Rogers can count Diana Ross, David Bowie, and Duran Duran in the list of artists he’s worked with to produce massively successful singles, and that’s just the D section of his Rolodex.

Rogers was on the boards for Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”, The B-52’s “Love Shack”, and Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family.” His own group Chic can lay claim to Atlantic Records’ only triple platinum selling single with “Le Freak” while their other songs formed the basis for The Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” and another essential cut for serious hip-hop heads, Will Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggy With It.” More recently, he laid down some sleek moves with Daft Punk on “Get Lucky” along with recent collabos including Sam Smith, Avicii, and Lady Gaga.

Sadly, none of this matters to the average park joggers, chavs, and stroller moms who passed by the disco legend when he plugged in for a solo performance in London’s South Bank neighbourhood. While Rogers began with a set of bossa nova tunes, he quickly switched to a medley of his own hit productions including Diana Ross’s “I’m Coming Out” and the Daft Punk anthem to staying up all night rivaled only by Bryan La Croix’s “Ottawana Go To Bed”.

In the end, Rogers left the park with £12.30 (about $20) but was happy with the return to his humble beginnings as a homeless musician on the streets of New York. Watch a clip of the performance below along with a few of his gracious tweets on the experience.
