With his ongoing problems and never-ending train of political blunders it’s become remarkably easy to hate Rob Ford. Justifiably so.

But substance abuse and professional ineptitude aside, it’s worth remembering what got him into office in the first place. Because through it all—the sweating, the sloganeering and the tangential connections to Canada’s criminal underbelly, dude’s ultimately kind of likeable.

He proved it this weekend when he dropped by Toronto’s Rivoli, passing through Beat Academy‘s fundraiser to drop a fat beat. No pun intended. They were trying to raise money to send some DJs to South by Southwest in March, and you’ve got to think Ford’s cameo gave the contest some clout.

And sure, it didn’t exactly sound good, but this is the kind of thing Torontonians have been asking him to do for years. Not just to embrace our city’s culture, but also to save his late night bar visits for the weekend.

All this clip was really missing was some moves, and you might remember the Mayor’s got grooves for days. [via CBC]
