OK, it’s about time we admit it: YouTube user Andy Rehfeldt is a loboto visionary. It’s evident dude’s a metalhead, but he also has no respect for genre conventions or boundaries—and that’s how he created, with vocal work from a few friends, hilarious-cum-profound death metal Justin Bieber covers, Disney-fied versions of Slipknot tracks, Polka reboots of Chris Brown, and jazzy Rage Against the Machine ditties. He bastardizes, ruins, and improves songs simultaneously—and through his covers, we learn a little bit more about pop music. (Like, for example, how Coldplay essentially write power ballads, only with pianos.) So, Andy, keep doing what you do. Here are 10 of his covers of classic pop songs.

Culture Club – “Karma Chameleon”

The grainy, VHS quality of the video only adds to the creepiness of this death metal cover.

Ke$ha – “Die Young”

Ke$ha’s vocals over top of metal guitars have us believing that, if she chose to pursue it, miss Sebert could have a long, long career in nü metal. Also, the breakdown at 1:40, with dancers in skull-themed face paint? Shit is hard.

Elvis Presley — “Blue Suede Shoes”

The blend of suggestive gyrating and Cookie Monster vocals makes Elvis somehow sexier.

Coldplay – “Viva La Vida”

Let’s be honest: This sounds like whatever hard rock band played Edgefest in 2004.

Carly Rae Jepsen – “Call Me Maybe”

This is what Skye Sweetnam’s metal band should sound like.

Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”

The smooth, sultry vocals and glossy guitars—not to mention the fact that it’s paired with a runway video—makes this sound like an Econoline Crush b-side. Gross.

Miley Cyrus – “Wrecking Ball”

Who knew that nip pasties and absolutely vile vocals were such a power couple?

The Archies – “Sugar, Sugar”

We’re digging the strained-vocal metalcore vibe of “Sugar Sugar.” And since we’re on the topic of Archie, we’re thinking that Moose would be such a classic hardcore frontman.

Paul McCartney – “Eleanor Rigby”

The soaring chorus of “Eleanor Rigby” doesn’t lose any of its sheen when it’s backed by hard-strummed palm muting.

Bee Gees – “How Deep is Your Love”

Think Bee Gees fans would dig this death metal cover? We’d wager no. But we do.
