Coachella has internet asking "Who is Outkast?"

One of the funniest after-effects of Arcade Fire’s 2011 Grammy win was the reaction online, a mix of confusion and outrage that spawned the now infamous Who Is Arcade Fire??!!? Tumblr. And true to form, news confirming that Outkast would reunite to headline Coachella 2014 has spawned a similar reaction, prompting out of the loop teens to ask whether they’re that “polaroid picture” band and to call them irrelevant because “they only had a few good songs and that was 15 years ago.”

Like Arcade Fire, some of the best material is collected on tumblr on Who Is Outkast?, and we’ve highlighted the best below. Most people are incredibly excited about the news; these kids are the exception that proves the rule.

The difference here is, obviously, that a lot of these kids have heard of Outkast, but only so far as “Hey Ya!”. That’s their biggest song no doubt, but hardly their one and only. If you missed it, we compiled a list of less obvious favourites we’re hoping to hear at Coachella way back when the reunion was only just a rumour.

And speaking of rumours, those of us who can’t make it to Coachella are in for a treat with the duo announcing on Facebook earlier that they’re in the midst of ironing out a 40-date tour in celebration of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik‘s 20th anniversary. They haven’t shared any dates yet, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Canadian dates.
