The YouTube Music Awards quickly killed its own momentum when its list of nominess was revealed to include such game changers as Justin Bieber, One Direction and Miley Cyrus, and if that sarcasm wasn’t obvious enough, let Tyler, the Creator elaborate on my behalf:

In spite of Tyler’s anger, the YTMA’s have lot going for them. Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts will host, and aside from Tyler, the Creator, performers include Eminem, Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, M.I.A. and more. Even better, Spike Jonez is directing the whole thing. And for what it’s worth, Flying Lotus agrees with him.

“They had an opportunity to shine a light on all the artists that they helped to gain notoriety just to shit on them for uber famous acts,” he tweeted, adding “No disrespect to the nominees yadda yadda.”

Are they right? Mostly, it’s the two biggest categories (Arist of the Year & Video of the Year) drawing their ire, with other categories including more down-to-earth nominees like Bat for Lashes, Anamanaguchi and Kendrick Lamar, but did YouTube blow it with this one? The YouTube Music Awards will broadcast live online on November 3rd.
