Bane actor Tom Hardy cast as Elton John in upcoming biopic

Tom Hardy is perhaps best known for his build up roles as a bruise in movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Bronson and Warrior, but his latest role will have to call on another side of his pretty vast talents. According to Variety, he’s been cast as Sir Elton John in Rocketman, the upcoming biopic set to tell the story of the legendary musician.

According to Variety, he’s been cast as Sir Elton John in Rocketman, the upcoming biopic set to tell the story of the legendary musician.
The movie has been in the works for at least two years and is fully endorsed by Elton, who says he’ll be re-recorded some of his classics for the movie.
“We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton,” said FilmDistrict CEO Peter Schlessel, apparently not joking. Elton John is known for lots of things, but physicality? This one we’ll have to see to believe. Unfortunately, that’s likely a few years off. Still in pre-production, Rocketman isn’t expected out until 2015.
