As the drummer of Toronto’s Thighs and Odonis Odonis, Jarod Gibson has done the almost unthinkable: made e-drums sound cool. With a highly unique stripped-down kit (including triggers on the soles of his shoes), he blasts out spectral Spector beats to propel the two groups. Now, Gibson has gone one step further with his percussive solo project Michael Jacket and the Cruelty cassette coming Oct. 3 from Not Unlike. AUX has the premiere for the title track’s video, a spookily surreal computer animated clip featuring a dome-headed businessman, double-bending body morphing and blood spurting from the chimney of Parkdale’s Dunn Milk.
