Katy Perry’s followed Miley Cyrus into the wonderful booty bouncing world of trap music with her newest single, “Dark Horse,” and hip-hop fans have to be stoked.

Wait, the opposite of that.

In fairness, the Juicy J accompanied track released earlier to tease Perry’s upcoming album Prism isn’t a totally traditional take on rap’s dirty deep southern sound. While carried by the genre’s usual minimalist, low-end production and predictable drop, its main memorable hooks are the usual sign song-y fair that’s made Katy Perry a success to the tune of eight straight chart topping hits.

“It’s got me, a pop artist, with a little bit of an urban kind of hip-hop-flavored background soundtrack to it, and the lyrics are kind of witchy and dark, as if I was a witch warning this man not to fall in love with me, and if you do know I’m going to be your last,” said Perry to MTV.

Sure, the song sucks, but it’s so dark and urban and witchy that people will totally eat it up anyways.
