Track Of The Week: "Dangerous" by Big Data
by Chris Budd
August 23, 2013
If you ever watch the Hype Machine charts, you would have have seen this phenomenal track make its way to #1 last week. The song is “Dangeous” by duo Big Data, whose brand of “paranoid electronic pop music” will be sure to peak your attention. This duo is comprised of Daniel Armbruster (of Joywave) on vocals with Alan Wilkis as the producer.
This first single from their EP 1.0 lyrically speaks to the bizarre cycle voyeurism in the digital age. The idea that we can spy on people anonymously so easily and yet at the same time, our every single move is being recorded, tracked, and monitored by big scary government and companies. The album lyrically explores the ever-increasing relationship between man and machine, and more specifically how the internet and social media have reshaped the human experience.
Take a listen, and don’t worry, no one is watching you.
