Mastodon are busy touring the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival circuit still promoting off the successes of 2011’s The Hunter, but in an interview with Examiner (via Blabbermouth), guitarist Bill Kelliher says they’re more than ready to work for the future.

“We have about 25 to 30 songs that are ready for the new record,” said Kelliher. “We’re obviously not gonna use all 30 of them, but we’re in a much better place than we’ve ever been as far as being prepared during pre-production for an album.”

He goes onto say that Mastodon hope to have the album out after the Christmas season, potentially in March and April, which would give the band the chance to run a spring tour right after.
