Watch as Steve Buscemi mistakes drummer Chris Tomson for Chris Baio, his long-lost cousin, fiddles with amps while they jam and tells the band that while they're catchy, he doesn't always understand their songs.

We’re not sure when this was shot, but we’ll assume sometime before Easter since it sells itself as Steve Buscemi’s first time meeting Vampire Weekend.

While obviously staged, it’s a pretty funny little skit that sees Buscemi hamming it up while the band tries its best not to get in the way.

Watch as he mistakes drummer Chris Tomson for Chris Baio, his long-lost cousin, fiddles with amps while they jam and tells the band that while they’re catchy, he doesn’t always understand their songs.

“Sometimes I think I know what they mean or I’m listening to the lyrics and then you go, ‘Peter Gabriel, too’ or like ‘Louis Vuitton’ out of nowhere and I’m lost,” he tells the band. “And I’m just wondering, if you think the songs were more accessible, you might have a bigger following?”

The clip was shot as a lead-in to the band’s upcoming American Express Unstaged concert, a live-streamed gig set to be directed by Buscemi that closes out the Tribeca Film Fest on April 28th. Since it’s labelled episode 1, we’d say you should expect more in the coming weeks.
