At the end of each week, #Top40Tweets lists a cross-section of artists on the current pop charts and puts their tweets on display (along with their current chart number) for your enjoyment/scrutiny. This week, we look at artists on the Billboard Music Charts.
#8 (Hot 100): Drake – Started From The Bottom
Not so fast, Aubrey. You’re not the only Drake on the block.
Damn, Drake. You embarrassed yourself in front of 2 Chainz.
FUN FACT: Drake just dropped a visual for “5AM in Toronto.” Apparently, Drake hangs out at an indoor volleyball court when it’s 5AM and he’s in Toronto.
(Uncharted): Snoop Lion – No Guns Allowed feat. Miley Cyrus (prod. Mad Decent)
Diplo knows. He’s probably the authority on butts. A twerkologist, if you will.
FUN FACT: Diplo’s dancehall project Major Lazer handled production for the new Snoop Lion jam, featuring another twerk-master, Miss Miley Cyrus:
#35 (Hot 100): Ace Hood – Bugatti feat. Future & Rick Ross
Rick Ross is facing scrutiny after a lyric from his verse on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” was misinterpreted as a reference to rape. So, was it misinterpreted, or is Rozay backpeddling? To my eye, it really does kinda seem like a line about date rape.
“Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.”
FUN FACT: Rick Ross definitely doesn’t want to upset his many business partners. Check out this ridiculous Reebok commercial below:
#31 (Hot 100): Wale – Bad feat. Tiara Thomas
I seriously can’t believe this is a real thing. Jerry Seinfeld will be writing Wale’s lyrics on an upcoming mixtape. Now I can’t help but wonder what it’d be like if Larry David wrote Drake’s lyrics. Anxiety rap could really take off.
FUN FACT: Wale is preparing the release of The Gifted for June 25th. Check out the album’s lead-off single below:
(Uncharted): Trey Songz – Dive In
What, like Craigslist Casual Encounters?
FUN FACT: Nah, Trey is actually referencing a line from “The Game Belongs To Me” by legendary Texas hip-hop duo UGK. RIP Pimp C.
