Reviews of the new Daft Punk record can't be published until May, so this writer made a collage to describe it

Teemu Fiilin, a Finnish writer for Rumba, was invited to a listening party for Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, on one condition: written reviews of the record could not be published until May 1st. Fiilin found a creative way to leak some information about the record, without writing a word: a collage.

Based on a shoddy Google Translation of Teemu’s accompanying article, a couple dozen journalists were invited to a mysterious undisclosed location in Stockholm yesterday, where they listened to Random Access Memories in full. He describes the listening location as a pit garage, normally used for restoring trains. Before getting to listen, they had to sign written contracts, stating that they would not publish reviews of the record prior to May 1st.

This sounds like a pretty grandiose marketing move on the label’s part, and I guess we’ll have to wait until May 1st to see whether or not the album is deserving of this kind of treatment. For now, you can take a gander at Fiilin’s collage while listening to “Get Lucky” on repeat, and try to imagine what it sounds like.

We spy a shirtless Pharrell (could there be more than one collab on RAM?), Neil Peart’s drum set, Michael Jackson, a Korg vocoder, an album that says “over 70 minutes with” (LENGTH SPOILER?!), a violin, and many other tidbits that makes us pretty excited to hear this album.

Random Access Memories will be released in all its (potential) glory on May 17th.
