The Great Gatsby soundtrack is looking pretty massive, and now streaming before its May 5th release date is Lana Del Rey's song off the album, an original following her steady stream of covers called "Young & Beautiful."
The Great Gatsby soundtrack is looking pretty massive, and now streaming before its May 5th release date is Lana Del Rey’s song off the album, an original following her steady stream of covers called “Young & Beautiful.”
The dreary, contemplative song is a pretty strong indicator that Del Rey’s poised to eventually follow-up Born to Die in a big way. It’s nothing new for her, but the sweeping strings and effortless vocals nail her schtick in the most convincing fashoin we’ve heard since “Video Games.” We’re still waiting to hear a full version of André 3000 and Beyoncé’s “Back to Black” cover (there’s a 1:30 sample of the song here) but for now this is a pretty worthwhile concession. There’s two version of the track, the original and Dan Heath’s orchestral version, below:
