Remember how the Weeknd’s Trilogy albums were freely released as mixtapes and everyone was like, “whoa, that’s a cool dude?”

Yeah. Nevermind.

Head to Abel Tesfaye’s webstore and you’ll see he’s putting the albums out on vinyl, which would be great if the boxset didn’t cost $200. And for what?

The set is limited to 500 and each copy is autographed, which is all well and good, but there’s little incentive beyond exclusivity to shell out that much money. When House of Balloons first dropped it seemed that the Weeknd was making music tailored to vinyl’s unique sound. Now, poorly remastered, repriced and repackaged, it’s the opposite.

The Trilogy box set releases some time this month. Buy it here.
