Ever wonder what Top-40 songs would sound like with ridiculously pretentious lyrics? Neither did we—until we discovered lyricist (and Abobe employee) Dave Werner‘s Extraneous Lyrics series.

Armed with an acoustic guitar, a surprisingly decent vocals and (likely) a Thesaurus, Werner covers Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and, of course, Psy tracks, adding his own lyrical flourishes in the process. Watch him sing “Ignite the planet like pyromaniacs / More illumination than a spectral class / G2V Yellow Dwarf” to the tune of fun.’s “We Are Young” below.

(Before you ask: We don’t know what those lyrics mean, either.)
