From the too-good-to-be-true files, Gotye is apparently going to star in a new hidden-camera reality show called GOTYE!, which is pronounced “got ya!”, according to this Craigslist casting call we came across.

Here’s the full story, also posted on the show’s site:

Melbourne, Australia:

A man enters a grocery store, where the P.A. is playing the song “Somebody That You Used To Know.” Thinking nothing of it, he gathers his items and brings them to the till. There, a young grocer in his early 30s starts singing along with the song. All of a sudden, he rips off his apron, grabs an acoustic guitar and starts belting out the tune. Soon, the entire store reveals that they were in on the joke and break into a choreographed dance. Then, right at the end, they all scream “GOTYE!”

GOTYE! (pronounced “got ya!”) is a new hidden camera reality show from Boardface Productions and Josh Hewiss, an award-winning experimental theatre producer making his first project for television. Billed as a musical variety prank show, it’s part PUNK’D, part JACKASS, and all Gotye. The program is packed with surprises, including but not limited to man-on-the-street segments, hidden camera goofs, topical sketches, flashmobs and, to close out the show each night, a brand new pop song parody written by the artist himself.

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Wouter De Backer, better known as music sensation Gotye, shows a completely different side of himself as the host and namesake for GOTYE! “He’s so excited to take a break from strumming the guitar and showcase his playful, goofy side,” a rep for the artist confirms. “Wouter’s a world class prankster on the tour bus, and now the rest of the world gets to see him having a laugh, spreading jokes and shooting the breeze.”

Currently in pre-production, GOTYE! will be filmed at various locations around the world beginning this fall. Casting directors are currently seeking out individuals interested in performing as undercover actors in live pranks in most major cities. If you want to be the next Dax Shepard, here’s your chance.

Who knew he had such a “playful, goofy side”? There is also this “trailer,” or rather, “Some rough footage of GOTYE!, premiering late 2014 on a network TBA.” Is this just Just For Laughs clips? And is this the best or worst thing ever?

EDIT: 12:00 p.m. EST – April Fool’s!
