Zola Jesus covers Rihanna's "Diamonds" after Twitter fan suggestion

While she might have had it in her back pocket all along, Zola Jesus released her cover of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” last night just one day after a fan suggested it.

“I hear this a lot. Thinking about it,” she tweeted on on Wednesday after a fan said she should do the cover soon. And then last night, “as a small thank you” to her fans and followers, she released the cover.

The best part? She keeps Rihanna’s cadence, even the weird way she says the title track, which falls somewhere between “derrmernds” and “day mons.”

Anyways, that’s the cover below. It’s good timing for anyone in Toronto who managed to catch Rihanna when her 777 tour made it through the Danforth Music Hall last night.
