One of the three arrested Pussy Riot members has been freed, according to reports out of Russia today.

The BBC says that Yekaterina Samutsevich’s jail sentence was suspended after her lawyer successfully argued that she was booted from the cathedral before she could take part in the band’s now renowned “punk prayer.” He says that she wasn’t even able to take her guitar out of its case before guards forced her to leave.

Unfortunately, the sentences of Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were upheld, though they reportedly cheered and hugged Samutsevich when the court came to its decision. They’re both still expected to finish out a controversial two year sentence for “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” following a protest earlier in the year that they insist was political and not religiously motivated.
