Apparently premiering a song on the friggin’ moon wasn’t enough for will.i.am, because he’s looking to get even more entrenched in the world of science and technology. Last week, at Amsterdam’s IBC technology conference, will.i.am revealed his ambition to develop an American Idol style reality competition television show for people with talents in the fields of science and technology.

Apparently premiering a song on the friggin’ moon wasn’t enough for will.i.am, because now he’s looking to get even more entrenched in the world of science and technology.

Last week, at Amsterdam’s IBC technology conference, will.i.am revealed his ambition to develop an American Idol style reality competition television show for people with remarkable talents in the fields of science and technology. He intends for the show to be a showcase for high-level technology companies such as Google, with the hopes of finding some of the next great thinkers in technological innovation.

It’s Iron Chef meets microchips, or America’s Got Talent meets guys who are just really good at math. Doesn’t this sound like a surefire ratings bonanza?!

If will.i.am is on the judges panel, that might give the show some celebrity clout, but who is the Simon Cowell of the technology world? Could will.i.am find a host as charming as Ryan Seacrest who actually knows the quadratic formula? And what’s the audition process going to look like? A contestant is gonna turn a washing machine into a thermo-nuclear reactor on the spot? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Honestly, we really hope this gets the green-light, if only so we can give a scathingly negative review to the theme song that will.i.am inevitably produces. If we hear any updates, we’ll keep you posted.
