Azealia Banks released her new video over the long-weekend, and ‘1991’ seems to live up to its name with a visual flair that would be right at home with the videos of the early nineties (which was when she was born, if you’d like to feel old this early in the morning). But while Banks tweeted Madonna, Crystal Waters and Aaliyah as her inspirations for the video, its Missy Elliott that we can’t help but be reminded of. Watch the Justin Mitchell directed video up top.

And fittingly enough, murmurs of Missy performing two new songs also popped up on Labour Day. Pitchfork says she jumped on stage with Timberland (who originally said we’d hear new studio tracks by now) to perform “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat,” two new songs we hadn’t heard until now.
