Have you been to Reddit.com? It's more than just pictures of adorable puppies and horrific buzzsaw injuries. In fact, it's fast becoming one of the biggest information and news sources on the net and a terrific method of self-promotion. Enter Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty - sorry, "matchbox twenty" - who decided to submit himself to a Reddit "Ask Me Anything".

Have you been to Reddit.com? It’s more than just pictures of adorable puppies and horrific buzzsaw injuries. In fact, it’s fast becoming one of the biggest information and news sources on the net and a terrific method of self-promotion. Enter Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty – sorry, “matchbox twenty” – who decided to submit himself to a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” where celebrities and other notables field questions from the user base. But the best entertainment of all came from his abortive attempt to prove that he was, in fact, himself.

All AMA-ers are required to post proof that they’re the person they claim to be. Since Thomas is a well-known figure, it was as easy as posting a picture of himself. Or so you’d think. Instead of uploading an image, he instead linked to a location on his computer that of course no one in the thread could access.

It quickly became the most upvoted post, and he was in turn savaged by the Reddit masses.

Thomas was able to figure out that he had to put the picture on the Internet for it to be seen, and this is what he came up with:

Close enough, Rob. Close enough. He eventually recovered to answer dozens of questions ranking at varying levels of intrigue, including “Are you a breaking bad fan?” “yes.” But I dug into thisisrobthomas’ account history and saw that this wasn’t his first Reddit rodeo. Four months ago, he unsuccessfully attempted to create an Obama meme!

It didn’t go viral. Is this Rob Thomas guy ever gonna catch a break?
