Lana Del Rey has been called a mannequin more than once in her career, and H&M decided there was no one more qualified to model their new fall line. The clothier just released a trippy-as-all-get-out commercial set to the singer's atmospheric cover of Bobby Vinton's "Blue Velvet."

Lana Del Rey has been called a mannequin more than once in her career, and H&M decided there was no one more qualified to model their new fall line.

The clothier just released a trippy-as-all-get-out commercial set to the singer’s atmospheric cover of Bobby Vinton’s “Blue Velvet.” In the two-minute cut of the ad, Del Rey, all decked out in Hennes and Mauritz duds, croons to a be-bearded potential suitor, while flashing back to a hypnotism session. “Repeat after me: I never performed on SNL.” Finally, the plug is pulled on her performance by – and we all saw this coming – a midget in a three-piece suit and fedora.

The entire ad has a despairing vibe, which perfectly replicates the experience of going to H&M and trying to guess how a pair of their underwear is going to fit you. Seriously, the medium size is a Speedo that cuts off circulation to my legs, and the large fits me like a goddamn diaper. And here’s the best part: you can’t return them! My dresser is a graveyard of ill-fitting H&M undies.

While the commercial is pretty easy to poke fun at, the cover is admittedly quite solid, and Del Rey must be satisfied with the result, as it’s going to appear on the upcoming, expanded “Paradise Edition” of her album Born to Die.
