Missy Elliott’s return has plodded along for the past few months after Timbaland announced he was working with his old sidekick (or was he the sidekick?) again. But after false promises of a new song appearing on this date, then that date, then not at all—she originally started work on the album as early as 2008, and it was supposed to be out this June—a quick teaser of a new track has finally popped up online.
This clip of “9th Inning” isn’t the full song, and it cuts off before the song seems like it’s going to kick into high gear, but it’s not live and does more the trick of kicking the hype train back into full gear.
It’s probably a safe bet to expect the song on Missy’s upcoming album Block Party, which doesn’t have a release date yet but is expected sometime early next year.
