Yesterday, we reported that Justin Timberlake would be making music again, thanks to a hot tip in an interview with Timbaland’s vocal producer Jim Beanz. Beanz seemed to indicate that he would soon be working on Timbaland’s Shock Value 3, in addition to a follow-up to FutureSexLoveSounds.

We reacted, as anyone would — with endless joy. Finally! Justin Timberlake is making music again.

Not so fast. According to Timberlake’s publicist, there are no plans for a new solo album. Timberlake will be helping out on a few tracks for Shock Value 3, and that’s it. What a buzzkill. It turns out that Timberlake’s publicist is a more reliable source than a dude named Jim Beanz.

We feel like we’ve been punched in the gut. A few Timberlake-assisted Timbaland songs is a far cry from a JT solo album. Now Shock Value 3 is going to feel like a shitty consolation prize.
