It’s been almost ten years since we lost Joe Strummer to an undiagnosed heart complication, but the music industry isn’t about to forget one of its all time talents and all around good dudes. Today would have been his 60th birthday, and to celebrate it a previously unheard live recording of “Johnny Appleseed” made its way online earlier today.

We can’t embed the song, which Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros performed at the Acton Old Hall one month before Strummer’s untimely death, so you’ll have to head over to Rolling Stone to check it out. It’s worth it, though, proving that the guy had all the chops right up until the end.

The track appears on a Hellcat records retrospective of Strummer’s time with the label called The Hellcat Years, which is out now.
