It had to happen eventually. After nine consecutive weeks, Carly Rae Jepsen’s mega-hit “Call Me Maybe” has finally fallen from the summit of the Billboard Hot 100. Does this mean it’s the end of summer?

It had to happen eventually. After nine consecutive weeks, Carly Rae Jepsen’s mega-hit “Call Me Maybe” has finally fallen from the summit of the Billboard Hot 100. Does this mean it’s the end of summer?

So, who had the muscle to dethrone “Call Me Maybe”? This guy is no stranger to the #1 spot; Flo Rida’s introductory single “Low” spent 10 weeks at the chart’s summit, and his song “Right Round” had a six week stint at the peak.

“Whistle” by Flo Rida jumped to the top from the #3 spot, pushing “Call Me Maybe” to #3, with Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” holding fast at #2, based on a surge of exposure from the Olympics.

This might be the end of Carly Rae’s stay on top the Hot 100, but she should be proud of the performance of “Call Me Maybe.” Here are some facts:

– “Call Me Maybe” spent the most (9) consecutive weeks at #1 in 2012. Gotye’s “Sombody That I Used To Know” is a close second, with 8 weeks.

– The last single to spent more than 9 consecutive weeks on top of the Hot 100 is The Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feelin’,” which spent fourteen weeks at #1 from July to October in 2009. Carly Rae has tied Ke$ha’s “Tik-Tok” at 9 weeks.

– If “Call Me Maybe” goes back to #1 for two more non-consecutive weeks, she’ll join an elite few who have had a single spend 10 or more weeks at #1. Only 29 artists have ever done it.

Love live “Call Me Maybe”! Also, how much does this Flo Rida song suck? Why do people love this muscle-bound rapper so much?
