Have you ever ever wondered who Miss Piggy’s favourite diva is? Or what music Fozzie Bear would play on a road trip? Most importantly, what do the Muppets think about dubstep? The Muppets have always been intrinsically connected to music, from their beginnings on The Muppet Show to their varied appearances music videos. It only makes sense that The Telegraph would sit down with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo for a music-oriented interview.

Have you ever ever wondered who Miss Piggy’s favourite diva is? Or what music Fozzie Bear would play on a road trip? Most importantly, what do the Muppets think about dubstep?

The Muppets have always been intrinsically connected to music, from their beginnings on The Muppet Show to their varied appearances music videos by other artists (OK GO, Weezer). It only makes sense that The Telegraph would sit down with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo for a music-oriented interview. The interview covers their recent Oscar win for Best Song, their musical histories, and what they think of music today.

Here are some choice cuts from the interview, but be sure to check out the full length version at The Telegraph.

On the meaning of “Man Or Muppet”:

“To me, it means that everyone needs to decide who they are and then pursue their dream with their whole heart.” – Kermit

On electronic music:

“I’d love to collaborate with an electronic artist….and I’d love to work with Skrillex, even though I’ve never heard his music. (We don’t get electronic music in the swamp. There’s something about electricity and water just doesn’t mix.)” – Kermit

On their favourite music:

“Of course, I like Green Day and Toad the Wet Sprocket, for purely amphibian reasons.” – Kermit

Miss Piggy on her favourite diva:

“I love Lana Del Rey. And, despite our little run in, I love Carrie Underwood, too. Right now, my current fave is, of course, Adele! Beauty, talent, a natural singer – she reminds me of Moi!” – Miss Piggy

On the best road-trip music:

“As for my current playlist on road trips, right now I’ve got “Simon Smith & His Amazing Dancing Bear” by Randy Newman, “Mama Get The Hammer There’s A Fly On Papa’s Head” by Lou Monte and the greatest hits of the Beach Bears, including their biggest hit ‘Good Hibernations.'” – Fozzie Bear

Gonzo, on playing the trumpet:

“Camilla is a big fan of my trumpet playing, and I regularly serenade her with classics by greats like Chet Baker, Miles Davis and that legendary poultry horn player Chick Rooster.” – Gonzo

On dubstep:

“I’m more of a hip hop frog, but I do like dubstep.” – Kermit

“Moi simply can’t sit still when Moi hears dubstep. The bass is so powerful and the whole effect is so mesmerising and overwhelming! If I were a kind of music, I’d be dubstep.” – Miss Piggy

On American Idol:

“Sure, not every contestant has the greatest voice, but you have to admire their heart and their perseverance. The only real crime against music is not trying.” – Kermit
