In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Katy Perry opened up about her divorce, her upcoming movie, and her ambition to start her own record label.

After selling over 8.5 million records for EMI, Katy Perry is looking to start a creatively nurturing home to launch and support artists on her yet-to-be-named imprint. “I’m preparing for it now,” she says. “And when this record label does come to fruition, I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success. As people are coming to me with opportunities, I’m thinking, ‘How would I want to be treated?’”

If you’re wondering what type of artists Katy might be looking to sign, a good indication might be the opening acts she chose to accompany her on the North American leg of her California Dreams Tour. On that tour, Katy Perry received support from Ellie Goulding, Janelle Monae, Marina and the Diamonds, Natalia Kills, Robyn, and Rye Rye.

There’s no name for the label just yet, but we’d be remiss not to make at least a few suggestions:

– Purr-lophone Records
– YKCKP (Young Katy Cash Katy Perryonaires)
– Fueled By Candy
– Crapitaph Records
– Ho-Town Recorings
– Pea-COC Nation

We could go on all day. Until then, we’ll be anxiously awaiting a label name and a first signee. Congrats, Katy.
