Leonard Cohen was in Toronto last night where he accepted the Glenn Gould Prize, which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of the Arts and is awarded every three years to an artist for a lifetime of positive contributions to the arts.

The prize comes with a $50,000 purse, which CBC reports Cohen donated in its entirety to the Canada Council for the Arts.

And on that note, does anyone else think we should give it to him again next year? What an awesome dude.

The honour of being named the winner comes with the responsibility of naming a protégé, another award winner who’ll receive recognition alongside $15,000. For that, Cohen chose Sistema Toronto, a free music education program available within the Toronto school system.
