Britney Spears will ink deal for $15 million to judge X Factor

TMZ is reporting that Britney Spears is close to approving a deal with Simon Cowell that would have her judging the X Factor next season, to the tune of $15 million. Clearly, judging a television singing competition is just as fruitful as releasing your own celebrity fragrance. This got us to thinking -- what could Britney spend her $15 million X Factor salary on?
TMZ is reporting that Britney Spears is close to approving a deal with Simon Cowell that would have her judging the X Factor next season, to the tune of $15 million.
The major terms of the deal are sorted, and it’s now being fine-tuned for approval by Jamie Spears, Britney’s father and conservator.
On Tuesday, Cowell was quoted as saying “I would love to have her on the show. I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to.” Both X Factor and Britney Spears’ management neither confirm or deny the rumour, but sources say an announcement is expected to come within a week.
To but this price tag in perspective, Spears would be filling one of two vacant spots on the X Factor judges panel, held last season by Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Scherzinger pulled in a paltry $1.5 million, while Abdul fetched $2.5 million.
It seems like Cowell is upping his budget so he can compete with the star power held by American Idol and The Voice. On The Voice, Christina Aguilera fetches $10 million, while Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Cee Lo Green all earn $6 million. Idol has the biggest budget of all for its celebrity judges — Jennifer Lopez is reportedly making $20 million this season, and Steven Tyler earns $18 million. Heck, even ol’ Ryan Seacrest reportedly makes $15 million, which puts him at the same price that Cowell is getting Britney. For Simon Cowell’s role as executive producer and judge on the X Factor, he reportedly makes $36 million per season.
Clearly, judging a television singing competition is just as fruitful as releasing your own celebrity fragrance. This got us to thinking — what could Britney spend her $15 million X Factor salary on?
