Everyone’s been to a show where there’s some random jackass calling out ironic, unrelated songs for the band to cover, but at last Friday’s Atlas Sound show in Minneapolis, the band obliged in their own special way. The guy in question (who was later called on stage and forced to strip because “that’s what happens when you make requests”) really wanted to hear a cover of the Knacks’ “My Sharona” for some reason, and so the band went and did just that…for an hour.

According to the YouTube user that uploaded footage of the incident, frontman Bradford Cox yelled to the drunk heckler, “Fuck you. You want to do this motherfucker?” And from there, the reports suggest, it only got weirder. By the second clip you’ll notice the crowd is holding chairs in the air, one of Cox’s many bizarre requests ushered throughout the lengthy set.

Obviously footage of the entire thing hasn’t surfaced, but feel free to check out some excerpts posted above and below. But beware, since this is mostly a case of the story outweighing the output. [via Pitchfork]
