It’s easy to be anxious whenever Funkmaster Flex is behind a new song’s release. How, after all, are we to hear the song when he’s busy yelling his name the entire time? “The Don,” the newest Nas single, puts that fear to rest.
Co-produced by the late Heavy D, the track bounces by with nary a sound from Flex (it’s there, just not like it used to be), leaving the listener the tools to appreciate this never-again collaboration. And what a collaboration it is, mixing a bombastic backing beat from D with that old school swagger Nas seems keen on bringing back.
No word on whether this is off a new Nas album or what, but enjoy “The Don” for what it is below.
