The contestant who audiences have come to know affectionately as "The Gentle Giant" may not be so gentle after all. And, he's a liar. Jermaine Jones, a 25 year-old native of New Jersey, entered the competition as a last minute wild-card pick. His deep and soulful voice caught the eye of the judges, and so did his sob-story about him and his mother being abandoned by his father.

The contestant who audiences have come to know affectionately as “The Gentle Giant” may not be so gentle after all. And, he’s a liar.

Jermaine Jones, a 25 year-old native of New Jersey, entered the competition as a last minute wild-card pick. His deep and soulful voice caught the eye of the judges, and so did his sob-story about him and his mother being abandoned by his father.

It turns out that his sob-story is complete and utter bullshit. As TMZ reported, Jermaine still has a close relationship with his father, and he was even at one of the live tapings to support his son.

Okay, that’s one strike, but should AI producers really fire him for that little fib?

Well, it turns out Jermaine has a very aggressive past. He has 4 warrants out for his arrest. He’s been arrested for fighting, public intoxication, and he’s even been accused of giving false information (fake names) to police. American Idol producers assert that he lied to them about his criminal past, as well.

I think we just figured out why the “Gentle Giant” sweats so much during his performances. He was just counting down the days until the police would storm the stage and tackle him in the middle of a performance of “Georgia On My Mind.”

Jermaine was unceremoniously dismissed from the show last night.
