When Gainesville punk icons Hot Water Music released a new single last summer, the plan was always to release a new album, but no real time frame was put on it due to the band members’ busy schedule outside of Hot Water.

Today, the band has finally annouced its first full length album in eight years, Exister, to be released via Rise Records on May 15. “For us, calling the album Exister, I think it’s a bit of a ‘we’re still here, and we’re not going away anytime soon’ type of statement,” says bassist Jason Black in a statement.

Recorded just this past January with the Decendents’ Bill Stevenson producing, Black says the time away fueled them in the studio this time around. “It seems like the time off, coupled with everything we’ve all learned doing other projects and honing our respective crafts during that time, really worked in our favor and enabled to have a basically unending flow of ideas and creative sparks.”

The new release will be supported with tour dates of course; expect those to be announced soon.
